I've been checking NY Times' food writer Mark Bittman's blog, Bitten, and watching his short, entertaining Minimalist cooking videos for a while now -- and I've never noticed anything from him about marine conservation. So I was pleasantly surprised to see his piece, A Seafood Snob Ponders the Future of Fish, in the Times this weekend.

Ok, I can't resist -- one more seafood post today.

The EPA has a new web site, Fish Kids, to teach kids about mercury in seafood. There are animated games and stories that drive home the lessons to watch out for mercury.

My favorite part? It's all about the adventures of the Fisher family... which happens to be the last name of yours truly.

crab cakes

All right, I was going to keep it a secret, but I think I just need to get this off my chest:
over the July 4th weekend, I made crab cakes. And they weren't exactly sustainable.
