Dustin Cranor

Manager, Campaign Communications and Media Relations

Dustin Cranor brings an array of public relations and communications experience to Oceana. His expertise in project management and media relations has assisted a wide variety of corporations, associations and non-profit organizations.

Cranor joined Oceana as communications manager in July 2007. Since then, he has spearheaded Oceana’s PR efforts for a number of its campaigns, including its global campaign to stop overfishing subsidies. Cranor also focuses on increasing awareness of the current threats facing sea turtle and shark populations worldwide.

Cranor was recognized for his conservation efforts May 6, 2008 when he was profiled as one of the nations top gay environmental “movers and shakers” in The Advocate’s inaugural “Green” issue at age 25.

Prior to joining Oceana, Cranor was a senior account executive at TheWadeGroup, Inc., a boutique public affairs firm. While there, he played an instrumental role in the growth and success of the firm, while also developing effective communications campaigns and collateral materials surrounding outreach efforts for numerous clients, including Oceana, the American Gaming Association, The National Center for Responsible Gaming and Reed Exhibitions.

Before moving to Washington, D.C., Cranor was a financial sales representative at Arvest Bank in Fayetteville, Ark. Cranor graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2005 where he received a dual-degree in political science and communications. While attending the University, he participated on the intercollegiate debate team.

Cranor grew up in Bartlett, Kan., and was very active in 4-H since age seven. He also was the Kansas state president of SkillsUSA VICA.
