Stephen P. McAllister
Stephen McAllister is a successful developer with solid environmental credentials that include being a crewmember in Greenpeace's first Rainbow Warrior. Stephen was born in 1949 in Vermont and was raised on a dairy farm.
He served two years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, then returned home to attend college. He graduated in 1977 from the Vermont Technical College with a degree in Civil Engineering and ran his home-construction business until 1981, when he joined Greenpeace. There, he rose through the ranks, becoming co-director and campaign director of Greenpeace USA, until 1985, when he returned to the building/developing business.But environmental work was a strong draw, and
Stephen rejoined Greenpeace in 1989 to become executive director of Greenpeace Australia. From 1990-1991, he was deputy executive director and campaign director of Greenpeace International at its headquarters in Amsterdam. Stephen left Greenpeace in 1991 and returned to the United States to resume his developing business, which he maintains to date.
Stephen has served on Oceana's board for three years, and in 2005 donated the use of the Ranger catamaran to Oceana.
